You wouldn't believe how bad I was when I first started. Just practice a whole bunch. There are probably hundreds of animations on my computer that I haven't submitted that are just practice. Look at any author's submissions. They all improve over time. Don't just use sprites all the time and say that you can't do anything, cuz nobody can just be awesome with no practice.
